Apsis
Apsis, gök mekaniğinde, eliptik yörüngedeki bir cismin genelde sistemin kütle merkezi durumunda da olan çekim merkezinine yörünge boyunca en yakın ve en uzak olduğu noktalara verilen addır. Genel anlamda cismin yörüngede merkeze en yakın olduğu noktaya
periapsis, en uzak olduğu noktaya ise
apoapsis denir. Periapsis ve apoapsis arasında çizilen düz çizgi
apsis çizgisi olarak isimlendirilir. Bu çizgi elipsin ana eksenidir ve elips boyunca olan en uzun çizgiyi oluşturur. Yörüngenin çevresinde bulunduğu gök cismine bağlı olarak apsis noktaları için farklı isimler türetilmiştir. En yaygın olanı Dünya çevresindeki bir yörüngeyi betimlerken kullanılan
apoje ve
perijedir. Apoje, Dünya çevresindeki yörüngelerde apoapsisi tanımlarken, perije de periapsisi belirtir. Ayrıca Güneş çevresindeki yörüngeler için benzer şekilde
perihelion ve
aphelion terimleri kabul edilmiş olup, Ay çevresindeki yörüngeler için de Apollo Projesi esnasında
pericynthion ve
apocynthion sözcükleri tercih edilmiştir.
