Аналогія - це пізнавальний процес передачі інформації або сенсу від конкретного суб'єкта до іншого конкретного предмета або мовного виразу, відповідного такому процесу. У вужчому розумінні аналогія є висновком або аргументом від одного конкретного до іншої конкретної, на відміну від дедукції, індукції та викрадення, де принаймні одне з умов або висновків є загальним. Аналогія слова може також посилатися на співвідношення між джерелом та ціллю, що часто, хоча й не обов'язково, є подібністю, як у біологічному понятті аналогії. Модель атома Нільса Бора зробила аналогію між атомом і сонячною системою. Аналогія відіграє важливу роль у вирішенні проблем, таких як прийняття рішень, сприйняття, пам'ять, творчість, емоції, пояснення та спілкування.
