Wenn eine Blende schmal ist, werden stark kollimierte Strahlen zugelassen, was zu einem scharfen Fokus auf der Bildebene führt. Wenn eine Blende breit ist, werden unkubierte Strahlen zugelassen, was zu einem scharfen Fokus nur für Strahlen mit einer bestimmten Brennweite führt. Dies bedeutet, dass eine breite Blende zu einem Bild führt, das scharf ist, was das Objektiv fokussiert und verschwommen ist.
