Bahá'u'lláh, geboren Mírzá Ḥusayn-`Alí Núrí, war der Begründer des Bahá'í-Glaubens. Er behauptete, die prophetische Erfüllung des Bábismus zu sein, ein Auswanderung des Shí'ismus aus dem 19. Jahrhundert, aber in einem breiteren Sinne behauptete er, ein Bote von Gott zu sein, der sich auf die Erfüllung der eschatologischen Erwartungen des Islam, des Christentums und anderer wichtiger Religionen bezieht. Bahá'u'lláh lehrte, dass die Menschheit eine einzige Rasse ist und dass das Alter für seine Vereinigung in einer globalen Gesellschaft gekommen ist. Er lehrte, dass "es nur einen Gott gibt, dass alle Religionen der Welt von Gott sind, und dass jetzt die Zeit für die Menschheit ist, ihre Einheit zu erkennen und zu vereinigen." Sein Anspruch auf göttliche Offenbarung führte zu Verfolgung und Gefängnis durch die persischen und osmanischen Behörden und seine eventuelle 24-jährige Haft in der Gefängnisstadt Akka, Palästina, wo er starb. Er schrieb viele religiöse Werke, vor allem die Kitáb-i-Aqdas und die Kitáb-i-Íqán. Es gibt zwei bekannte Fotos von Bahá'u'lláh. Außerhalb der Pilgerfahrt zieht Bahá'í es vor, sein Foto nicht öffentlich zu sehen oder sogar in ihren Privathäusern zu zeigen.
