Utricularia
Utricularia, gemeinhin und kollektiv genannt Blasenworts, ist eine Gattung von fleischfressenden Pflanzen, bestehend aus etwa 233 Arten. Sie treten in Süßwasser und nassem Boden als irdische oder aquatische Arten auf jedem Kontinent außer der Antarktis auf. Utricularia werden für ihre Blumen angebaut, die oft mit denen von Snapdragons und Orchideen verglichen werden, vor allem bei fleischfressenden Pflanzenenthusiasten. Alle Utricularia sind fleischfressend und fangen kleine Organismen mit Hilfe von blasenartigen Fallen ein. Terrestrische Spezies neigen dazu, winzige Fallen zu haben, die von minderer Beute wie Protozoen und Rotiferen, die in wassergesättigtem Boden schwimmen, ernähren. Die Fallen können in der Größe von 0,2 mm bis 1,2 cm liegen. Aquatische Arten, wie U. vulgaris, besitzen Blasen, die in der Regel größer sind und sich auf größere Beute wie Wasserflöhe, Nematoden und sogar Fischbraten, Moskitolarven und junge Kaulquappen ernähren können. Trotz ihrer geringen Größe sind die Fallen extrem anspruchsvoll. In den aktiven Fallen der aquatischen Spezies, Beute Pinsel gegen Trigger Haare an die Falltür angeschlossen.
