Diktator
Ein Diktator ist ein Herrscher, der absolute Autorität ausübt. Ein von einem Diktator beherrschter Staat heißt Diktatur. Diktaturen sind oft durch einige der folgenden Merkmale gekennzeichnet: Aussetzung der Wahlen und der bürgerlichen Freiheiten; Proklamation eines Ausnahmezustandes; Regel durch Dekret; Unterdrückung von politischen Gegnern ohne Einhaltung von Rechtsstaatlichkeitsverfahren; Dazu gehören Einparteienstaat und Kult der Persönlichkeit. Der Begriff "Diktator" ist vergleichbar mit - aber auch nicht mit dem alten Konzept eines Tyrannen; Anfangs "tyrann", wie "diktator", brachte keine negativen konnotationen
