Funktionelle Gruppe
In der organischen Chemie sind funktionelle Gruppen spezifische Gruppen von Atomen oder Bindungen innerhalb von Molekülen, die für die charakteristischen chemischen Reaktionen dieser Moleküle verantwortlich sind. Die gleiche funktionelle Gruppe wird die gleiche oder ähnliche chemische Reaktion unabhängig von der Größe des Moleküls, das es ein Teil von ist. Allerdings kann seine relative Reaktivität durch naheliegende funktionelle Gruppen modifiziert werden. Die Wortgruppe / mɔɪəti / wird oft synonym mit "funktioneller Gruppe" verwendet, aber nach der IUPAC-Definition ist eine Einheit ein Teil eines Moleküls, das entweder ganze funktionelle Gruppen oder Teile von funktionellen Gruppen als Substrukturen einschließen kann.
