Haustorium
In der Botanik ist ein Haustorium der Anhängsel oder Teil eines parasitären Pilzes oder der Wurzel einer parasitären Pflanze, die das Gewebe des Wirts durchdringt und Nährstoffe daraus zieht. Haustoria dringen nicht in die Zellmembranen des Gastgebers ein. Pilze in allen großen Divisionen bilden Haustoria. Haustoria nehmen mehrere Formen an. Im Allgemeinen erhöht der Pilz bei der Penetration den Oberflächenbereich in Kontakt mit der Wirtsplasmamembran, die Enzyme freisetzt, die die Zellwand brechen, wodurch eine größere potentielle Bewegung von organischem Kohlenstoff von Wirt zu Pilz ermöglicht wird. So kann ein Insekt, das einen parasitären Pilz wie Cordyceps beherbergt, so aussehen, als ob er von innen heraus "gegessen" wird, wenn die Haustoria sich darin ausdehnt. Der funktionale Austausch findet innerhalb des haustorialen Komplexes statt. Der Wirt liefert organischen Kohlenstoff an den Pilz, und die metabolische Aktivität innerhalb des Komplexes ist beträchtlich größer als außen. Kohlenstoff aus dem Wirt wird vom Pilz absorbiert und zum Rest des Thallus transportiert. Die Wirtspflanze scheint nach den Signalen des Pilzes und den komplexen Apparaten zu funktionieren, die unter der Kontrolle des Eindringlings stehen. Das Haustorium kann mycellium oder wurzelförmig sein.
