Jury
Eine Jury ist ein vereidigter Körper, der einberufen wird, um ein unparteiisches Urteil offiziell zu unterwerfen, das ihnen von einem Gericht vorgelegt wird, oder eine Strafe oder ein Urteil festzulegen. Moderne Jurys neigen dazu, in den Gerichten gefunden zu werden, um die Schuld oder das Fehlen davon in einem Verbrechen zu ermitteln. In anglophone jurisdiktionen kann das Urteil schuldig sein, nicht schuldig oder nicht bewiesen. Die alte Einrichtung der großen Jurys existiert noch an einigen Stellen, besonders den Vereinigten Staaten, um zu untersuchen, ob genügend Beweise für ein Verbrechen existieren, um jemanden zum Prozeß zu bringen. Die Jury-Vereinbarung hat sich aus den frühesten Jurys entwickelt, die im frühmittelalterlichen England gefunden wurden. Die Mitglieder sollten sich über Verbrechen und dann über die Details der Verbrechen informieren. Ihre Funktion war also näher an der einer großen Jury als die einer Jury in einem Prozeß.
