Der louvar oder luvar, Luvarus imperialis, ist eine Art von perciform Fisch, die einzige vorhandene Spezies in der Gattung Luvarus und Familie Luvaridae. Es ist eng mit dem Chirurgenfisch verwandt. Die jugendliche Form hat ein Paar Stacheln in der Nähe der Basis des Schwanzes, wie die Chirurgenfisch, obwohl sie bei den Erwachsenen verloren sind. Es ist ein großer, ellipsoidal Fisch, der bis zu 200 cm lang wächst, obwohl die meisten nicht mehr als 152 cm. Das größte Gewicht für diese Art beträgt 150 kg. Es ist rosa in der Farbe und besitzt eine charakteristische gewölbte Stirn.
