Satire

Satire ist ein Genre der Literatur, und manchmal grafische und darstellende Künste, in denen Laster, Torheiten, Mißbräuche und Unzulänglichkeiten zum Lächerlichen gehalten werden, idealerweise mit der Absicht, Einzelpersonen, Gesellschaften, Regierung oder Gesellschaft selbst zu verbessern. Obwohl Satire gewöhnlich humorvoll ist, ist ihr größerer Zweck oft konstruktive Sozialkritik, indem man Witz als Waffe verwendet und als Werkzeug, um auf besondere und breitere Fragen in der Gesellschaft aufmerksam zu machen. Ein Merkmal der Satire ist eine starke Ironie oder Sarkasmus - "in Satire, Ironie ist militant" - aber Parodie, Burleske, Übertreibung, Gegenüberstellung, Vergleich, Analogie und Doppeldeputter werden alle häufig in satirischer Sprache und Schrift verwendet. Diese "militante" Ironie oder Sarkasmus behauptet oft, die Dinge zu genehmigen, die der Satiriker anzugreifen wünscht. Satire findet sich heute in vielen künstlerischen Ausdrucksformen, darunter Literatur, Theaterstücke, Kommentare, Fernsehshows und Medien wie Texte.
