Sirup
Beim Kochen ist ein Sirup oder ein Sirup eine dicke, viskose Flüssigkeit, die hauptsächlich aus einer Lösung von Zucker in Wasser besteht, die eine große Menge an aufgelösten Zuckern enthält, aber wenig Tendenz zeigt, Kristalle abzuscheiden. Maissirup wird aus Maisstärke mit einem enzymatischen Prozess hergestellt, der ihn zu Zucker umwandelt. Technisch und wissenschaftlich wird der Begriff Sirup auch verwendet, um viskose, im allgemeinen verbleibende Flüssigkeiten zu bezeichnen, die andere Substanzen als Zucker in Lösung enthalten.
