Zar
Zar (alter bulgarisch: ц︢ри, ц︢рь) ist ein Titel, der verwendet wird, um bestimmte europäische slawische Monarchen oder Obersten Herrscher zu benennen. Als Regierungssystem im Tsardom von Russland und dem russischen Reich ist es als zaristische Autokratie oder Zarismus bekannt. Der Begriff stammt aus dem lateinischen Wort Caesar, das "Kaiser" im europäischen Mittelalter des Begriffs bedeuten sollte - ein Herrscher mit demselben Rang wie ein römischer Kaiser, der ihn durch die Zustimmung eines anderen Kaisers oder eines höchsten kirchlichen Beamter (der Papst oder der Ökumenische Patriarch) - wurde aber gewöhnlich von den Westeuropäern als gleichbedeutend mit dem König betrachtet oder etwas zwischen einem königlichen und kaiserlichen Rang.
