Das Wettbewerbsrecht ist die Rechtsordnung, die den Handel durch das Verbot illegaler Beschränkungen, Preisfestsetzung und Monopole regelt. Anschließend haben andere Länder das Kartellrecht in ihrem Rechtssystem mit anderen Begriffen wie "Wettbewerbsgesetzen", "freiem Wettbewerb" oder "Kartellrecht" verabschiedet. Derzeit haben die meisten Industrieländer und einige Entwicklungsländer Kartellgesetze. Ziel des Wettbewerbsrechts ist es, den "fairen Wettbewerb" zwischen Unternehmen zu fördern. Es hat eine wichtige Auswirkung auf die Geschäftspraktiken und die Umstrukturierung des Industriesektors in den Ländern, in denen es verabschiedet wurde, gehabt.
