Es ist ein Beruf, für den es keine spezielle akademische Ausbildung gibt. Allerdings erfordert die Praxis dieser Vermittlungs- und Beratungstätigkeit eine gewisse Kenntnis der Kunstgeschichte und vor allem auf dem Markt von Kunstobjekten und die verschiedenen Mittel, die sie darstellen.
