Prang wird der Turm eines buddhistischen Tempels in Thailand genannt. Zwischen dem X. und dem 12. Jahrhundert errichtete das Khmer-Reich die ersten "Watts". Buddhistische Konstruktionen in Thailand und Kambodscha haben Hindu-religiöse Gebäude in Indien beeinflusst, die Shiva und Brahma gewidmet sind. Die "Cellae" -Stapel waren hier relativ klein und hielten religiöse Zeremonien ab. Der Eingang der Cella war schmal und hatte eine niedrig belüftete Anthere, über der kubischen Cella war ein Gewölbe, das eigentlich der Raum innerhalb der turmförmigen Pyramide war. Seit dem Bau der Tempel in Angkor wurden diese Türme abgerundet.
