Die Polizei ist eine Art von Beamten, Strafverfolgungsbeamten, mit der Pflicht, die öffentliche Ordnung und das Leben, Eigentum und Grundrechte und Freiheiten des Bürgers zu schützen. In allen Ländern gibt es Polizeikräfte oder andere Sicherheitseinheiten, die mit polizeilichen Befugnissen ausgestattet sind. Je nach Einheit kann die Polizei in Uniform oder Zivilkleidung sein.
