The Ango is a form of the spear with an approximately ten centimeter long arrow-shaped blade of iron, barb and square cross-section on an extremely long spout of about one meter in length. The spout was connected to a wooden shaft. The total length of this weapon was probably between two and three meters. The Ango was used as a fighting and hunting weapon. He also served to pierce the enemy's shield and, if possible, at the same time. After piercing the shield, it should also be torn from the enemy by means of the barb and the weight of the angos. The thin front part, like that of the Roman pilus, was also designed so that it was bent after the throw, thus becoming unusable for the opponent. The Ango came mainly from the Franks, but was also found among other tribes, such as the Thuringians. The Ango in the Lower Rhine region, which is included in the cities of Lille, Bielefeld and Karlsruhe. Most of the finds could be dated to the years 480 to 520 AD. In part, the Ango is also called Franconian hooks.

Die Tülle war mit einem Holzschaft verbunden. Die Gesamtlänge dieser Waffe betrug wahrscheinlich zwischen zwei und drei Meter. Der Ango wurde als Kampf- und Jagdwaffe benutzt. Er diente auch dazu, den Schild des Gegners und nach Möglichkeit gleichzeitig auch diesen selbst zu durchbohren. Nach Durchbohren des Schildes sollte dieser mit Hilfe der Widerhaken und des Gewichtes des Angos auch dem Gegner entrissen werden. Das dünne Vorderteil war, wie das des römischen Pilums auch, so konstruiert, dass sich dieses nach dem Wurf verbog und so für den Gegner unbrauchbar wurde. Der Ango kam hauptsächlich bei den Franken vor, wurde aber auch bei anderen Stämmen wie den Thüringern gefunden. Die größte Verbreitung fand der Ango im unterrheinischen Gebiet, das von den heutigen Städten Lille, Bielefeld und Karlsruhe eingeschlossen wird. Die meisten Funde konnten auf die Jahre 480 bis 520 n. Chr. datiert werden. Teilweise wird der Ango auch fränkischer Haken genannt.
