Chatelaine

Chatelaine

The Chatelaine is a decorative pendant, with the help of which clocks and other small items are attached to the clothing. In today's linguistic usage, this is usually a multi-membered trailer that is attached to a pocket watch instead of a watch chain and is used exclusively when the pocket watch is held in a tailcoat. Watch chains are used for all other occasions. In French, the term châtelaine has been proved in this meaning since the first half of the 19th century. It arose from the shortening of the concept "chaîne châtelaine".
