Cockney

Cockney is the name for an English dialect in London, which partly works with specific rhymes. The term came from a mockery for the citizens of London. In the narrower sense, however, the cockneys are only those who were born within the ears of the bells of St Mary-le-Bow Church in the City of London. Cockney ist die Bezeichnung für einen englischen Dialekt in London, der zum Teil mit spezifischen Reimformen arbeitet. Der Begriff ging aus einem Spottnamen für die Bürger von London hervor. Im engeren Sinne bezeichnet man als Cockneys jedoch nur jene Menschen, die in Hörweite der Glocken der Kirche St Mary-le-Bow in der City of London geboren wurden.
