WHAT DOES HYPERVENTILATION MEAN IN GERMAN?

hyperventilation

Hyperventilation is an increased lung ventilation. It is accompanied by a decrease in the partial pressure of carbon dioxide and a rise in the pH of the blood. Hyperventilation can occur as a disturbance of the breathing regulation for mental or physical reasons, in response to an under-supply or even with controlled ventilation. In addition to the acute hyperventilation syndrome, which is characterized by accelerated and deepened breathing occurring with the typical tetanic symptoms, the chronic hyperventilation syndrome is distinguished, which is counted as a group of somatization disorders and often is associated with non-distinct symptoms. The anxiety-induced acute hyperventilation can sometimes cover an underlying problem. The breathing volume adapted for an increased respiratory requirement is not hyperventilation. The opposite is called hypoventilation. The phenomenon of rapid breathing, without consideration of the concentration of carbon dioxide in the blood, is called tachypnea.

Definition of Hyperventilation in the German dictionary

Excessive increase in breathing, excessive ventilation of the lungs.
