A Mire is a system of 2 or more targets, with which an accurate reference direction, e.g. The north-south direction, for astronomical devices or navigational instruments. The name comes from classical astrometry, which required precise meridional marks on earlier starwars in order to set up the instrument axes in the meridian or east-west direction. Depending on the purpose, such marks are applied between 3 meters and about 100 meters from the measuring point, even today for fixed meridian and passage instruments, as a reference system for first-order surveying posts, or for the installation of circular instruments in navigation. If the distance of the Mire is large, it is sufficient. A centered lamp; At low distances, a stably deployed collimator telescope is used.

Wenn die Entfernung der Mire groß ist, genügt u.U. ein zentriertes Lämpchen; bei geringen Distanzen wird ein stabil aufgestelltes Kollimator-Fernrohr verwendet.
