viral infection

Virusinfektion

Viral infection is understood as the active or passive penetration of viruses into an organism such as plant, animal or human being and its multiplication there. The usually following reaction of the organism can manifest itself in an infectious disease. Viruses are only reproducible within host cells, but not for themselves outside host cells. In this case, each type of virus prefers a more or less narrow range of certain cells, organs and living beings into which they penetrate and multiply. The infected cell, which has been transformed into a virus multiplication, can be recognized as such by the immune system and brought to death. This results in inflammation which can damage other cells and lead to a disease typical of this type of virus. In the course of evolution, the viruses that best fit their reservoir host are put through. The damage of the reservoir to its death is not a beneficial effect for a virus, since it is dependent on this host for its own multiplication.
