Amaurosis

The term amaurosis is used in medicine to describe the total or almost complete loss of vision produced by an organic cause. Therefore amaurosis has the same meaning as blindness, although the term is usually used when abrupt onset blindness appears without apparent eye injuries, for example by involvement of the optic nerve. El término amaurosis se utiliza en medicina para describir la perdida total o casi completa de visión producida por una causa orgánica. Por lo tanto amaurosis tiene el mismo significado que ceguera, aunque generalmente el término se emplea cuando aparece ceguera de inicio brusco sin lesiones aparentes del ojo, por ejemplo por afectación del nervio óptico.
