Definition of apinto in the Spanish dictionary

The definition of apinto in the dictionary is a plant of the family Amarilidaceae, with radial leaves or buds, fleshy, triangular pyramid, with spines in the margin and tip, and yellow flowers in bouquets, on a central bohordo that does not develop until the plant is 20 years old. It is used to form hedges in dry and arid lands. The roots are used as a substitute for soap to wash clothes. En el diccionario castellano apinto significa planta de la familia de las Amarilidáceas, con hojas o pencas radiales, carnosas, en pirámide triangular, con espinas en el margen y en la punta, y flores amarillas en ramilletes, sobre un bohordo central que no se desarrolla hasta que la planta tiene 20 años. Se utiliza para formar setos vivos en terrenos secos y áridos. Las raíces se emplean como sustituto del jabón para lavar la ropa.
