Finger

Dedo

The fingers are the extremities of the hand and foot of the human being and other animals like the great apes. They are also the ten tips of the limbs that can appreciate the shape, size, texture and temperature of an object. The human being has five fingers in each hand and receives the name of thumb, index, middle finger, ring and pinky of the hand. In each foot there are also five fingers, also called ortejos. Unlike what happens with the hand, in the foot, instead of using a different name for each finger, in the scientific field it is customary to refer to them by the number they occupy, beginning to count from the inside. For example, the big toe is the "first toe" or "first toe," the next toe, and so on. Only a few toes have a specific name equivalent to the corresponding name on the finger: big toe, little finger. The bones of the fingers are called phalanges. The human hand has three phalanges on each finger except the thumb and the first toe, where there are only two phalanges.
