Flavia Máxima Fausta was a Roman princess, daughter of the Emperor Maximiano and Syria Eutropia. In 307 he married Constantine I the Great, because his father wanted to control the tetrarchy. When Maximian turned against Constantine I, Fausta was the one who uncovered the conspiracy, contributing to the end of his own father. Two years later he witnessed in Rome the cruel derision that his own husband made with the body of his brother Maxentius, whom he had defeated on Milvio's bridge. Fausta was the mother of three future emperors, and of two daughters called Constantine and Helena. Having risen to the highest rank of Roman society, her life ended in a tragic and miserable way: her husband ordered her to drown her in a bath of boiling water. There has been much discussion about the causes of this death sentence and later damnatio memoriae, Fausta being most likely to have an incestuous relationship with her stepson Crispus, or to accuse him of having wanted to rape her to get rid of him, potential enemy for his Sons as firstborn of Constantine that was.

Cuando en 310 Maximiano se volvió contra Constantino I, Fausta fue la que destapó la conspiración, contribuyendo al fin de su propio padre. Dos años más tarde presenció en Roma, el cruel escarnio que su propio marido hizo con el cuerpo de su hermano Majencio, al que había derrotado en puente Milvio. Fausta fue madre de tres futuros emperadores, y de dos hijas llamadas Constantina y Helena. Habiendo subido al mayor rango de la sociedad romana, su vida terminó de una manera trágica y miserable: su marido ordenó ahogarla en un baño de agua hirviendo. Se ha discutido mucho sobre las causas de esta condena a muerte y posterior damnatio memoriae, siendo la más probable que Fausta mantuviera una relación incestuosa con su hijastro Crispo, o que acusara a éste de haber querido violarla para deshacerse de él, potencial enemigo para sus hijos como primogénito de Constantino que era.
