WHAT DOES HALOBACTERIA MEAN IN SPANISH?

Halobacteria

Halobacteria are a class of archaea found in saturated or almost saturated salt water. They are also called extreme halophiles, although this name also refers to other organisms that live in media with high salt concentration. They create red tides with their bacteriorodopsin pigment. This pigment uses it to absorb light, which will be the source of energy to create the ATP. This process is not related to other forms of photosynthesis. They are unable to fix carbon from carbon dioxide. Halobacteria have gas vesicles to float, so they are aerobic. Under anaerobic conditions the synthesis of membrane and gas vesicles is induced to float in aqueous environments. Flotation increases with the availability of light with electron pumping and with oxidative photophosphorylation. Halobacteria can survive in salinized environments, as they have a separate path of energy creation apart from photosynthesis. Some parts of the cell membrane of the halobacteria are purple.
