है और प्यास बहुत लगती है, छाती और सिर में पीड़ा होती है;
भ्रम, मूर्छा और कंप होता है, जँभाई आती है; निर्बलता बहुत
होती है, मुत्र बंद हो जाता है; नाड़ी मंद पड़ जाती है, आँखें
बैठ जाती हैं, शरीर का रंग पीला पड़ जाता है और
आवाज बदल जाती है । साथ ही वायु आदि के प्रकोप के
कारण सारे शरीर में सुइयाँ चुभने की सी पीड़ा होती
है; इसी से इसे विसुचिका कहते हैं । कुछ लोग इसे
हैजा भी मानते हैं, पर अधिकांश डाक्टर आदि इसे से
भिन्न समझते हैं । उनका मत है कि यह विसूचिका रोग अजीर्ण के कारण होता है, और हैजा एक प्रकार के विषाक्त
जीवाणुओं के शरीर में प्रवेश करने से होता है ।
