WHAT DOES TELEX MEAN IN ITALIAN?
Telex
The term telex refers to a telecommunications system developed since the 1930s and widely used in the 20th century for business correspondence between companies. The system consists of a circuit-switched telecommunication network, initially based on a system similar to teleselection telephone, and from terminal devices called telespices or simply, in common use, telex. It was therefore in effect a evolution of the telegraph for remote data communication between two users through a terminal very similar to a typewriter and a first step towards future computer networks. Telex is still in use for particular applications such as news spreading, weather newsletters and military communications. In the business sector it is now replaced by Internet services. In Italy, the Telex service officially ceased at the end of 2001. In the United States, an alternative system was developed in the same period of the telex: the Teletype Wide-area eXchange.
