Arabic is a language belonging to the Shemafar of the African Asian languages. It is written using Arabic characters and belongs to the refraction. 아랍어는 아프리카아시아어족의 셈어파에 속하는 언어로 셈어파 가운데 사용자가 가장 많다. 아랍 문자를 사용하여 표기하며 굴절어에 속한다. 어순은 서술어-주어-목적어의 순이다. 아랍어는 아프리카, 아라비아 반도등의 아랍 세계에서 약 3억 명이 사용하며 6개의 국제 연합 공용어 중 하나이다. 아랍어는 표현력이 뛰어나고 꾸란의 언어이며 무함마드의 출현 이후 문학의 언어로 사용되어 아라비아 반도의 귀중한 언어 유산이며 세계적으로 중요한 언어이다. 긴 역사를 간직하고 있고 넓은 분포를 가진 언어이지만 다른 언어에 비하면 변화가 비교적 보수적이며 매우 점진적이다. 이 언어는 터키어, 페르시아어, 우르두어, 말레이어, 스와힐리어, 하우사어 등의 언어에 영향을 많이 끼쳤다. 현재 아랍 세계의 공용어로서 학교 교육에서 가르치는 아랍어는 문어체 아랍어이다.
