Afakia

Afakia is a condition where the eye has lost its original crystalline lens, either through surgery due to cataracts or trauma. This condition can also occur from birth, or when the baby has a systemic disease. Its nature if detected at birth, it is known as congenital cataract. Congenital cataracts are opiates or incomplete crystalline lenses that can prevent vision. It can cause visible or total vision blurring. Congenital cataracts usually occur in both eyes while cataracts caused by trauma usually occur in one eye. If cataracts can not be detected early, it can cause deprivation in the baby. This is due to a reduction in the stimulus for vision so the baby is experiencing a low level of vision. Complications of vision that can occur as a result of reduced vision stimuli in the early age are ambliopia, nistagmus and squint. Treatment or rehabilitation / rehabilitation of vision for children akafia should be accelerated immediately after cataract surgery.
