Hadrah

Hadrah

Hadrah is believed to be the earliest form of the game in Perlis and dates back to 1910. This game of the hadrah is said to be derived from the game of people who are lost in the jungle sing so that the voice is heard. The number of performers was not set and usually between 10 and 13 people. Songs that are often sung in the hadrah are Welcome, Your Majesty, Ayuhai Lakampare, Khadami, Yas Sare, Fatimah Eto, and Unity. The contents of these hadrah songs are mixed in the theme. Musical instruments that accompany the game of hadrah are drums, gongs, and violin. The clothes of the hadrah players are Malay dresses for men and baju kebaya, baju kurung, bandung pesak and kancing for women. In the past, Hadrah served as a ritual and religious event. Now the hadrah serves as entertainment more than any other function.
