Oat

Oat is a kind of cereal species, and the seeds of this plant. It is used for human food, as well as for food for animals, especially poultry and horses. Oats are used as animal beds and sometimes as animal feeds. Oats are often served as porridge produced from salted or oatmeal oats, and also baked into biscuits. In the form of oat flour or oatmeal, it is also used in a variety of biscuits and cold cereals, and as a substance in muesli and granola. Oats can also be eaten raw, and biscuits with raw oats become increasingly popular. Oat straw is also used in the production of corn dolly, and is a favorite filling for home made lace cushions. Oat liver can be used as a skin problem nurse, for example. in baths, leather products etc. The old Middle English name for this plant is a haver, which remains in the name of a haversack livestock feed bag.
