Osteoporosis

Osteoporosis

Osteoporosis is a type of bone disease characterized by a reduction in bone mineral density, bone microarchitecture disorders, and a change in the amount and type of non-collagenous protein in the bones. Bone osteoporosis is easier to break. The main reason for osteoporosis is the lack of calcium. Osteoporosis is defined by the World Health Organization as: ▪ bone mineral density 2.5 standard deviation below the summit of bone matter as measured by DXA; or ▪ fracture fracture. While treatment is increasingly available, prevention is still considered the most important way to reduce the occurrence of broken bones. Due to hormonal components, more women, especially after menopause, have osteoporosis compared to men. Furthermore, osteoporosis can be caused by various hormonal conditions, as well as smoking, and medication.
