Ars nova

Ars nova - a term which is tied to the tendency of French and Italian music, related to the development of polyphonic music in the years 1315-1400. This is a concept opposite to Ars antiqua. The term comes from the treatise of Phillippe de Vitry Ars nova. Features of the new style: ▪ The introduction of new music, such as madrigal, caccia, ballata, and new polyphonic compositions such as ballad, virelai, rondo, chase, further development of polyphony, introduction of the concept of counterpoint, consideration of the nature of dissonance, consonance, ▪ introduction of new rules of rhythmic notation; The earlier modal notation is replaced by a mensural notation that has many richer subdivisions of values. ▪ There are views on the musical work seen as a source of pleasure. Ars nova – termin, którym określa się tendencję w muzyce francuskiej i włoskiej, związaną z rozwojem muzyki polifonicznej w latach 1315-1400. Jest to pojęcie przeciwstawne do Ars antiqua. Termin pochodzi z traktatu Phillippe'a de Vitry Ars nova. Cechy nowego stylu: ▪ wysunięcie się na plan pierwszy muzyki świeckiej, ▪ pojawienie się zupełnie nowych gatunków muzycznych, takich jak: madrygał, caccia, ballata, także nowe wielogłosowe opracowania takich gatunków jak ballada, virelai, rondo, chase, rozkwit motetu izorytmicznego, ▪ dalszy rozwój polifonii, wprowadzenie pojęcia kontrapunkt, rozważanie istoty dysonansu, konsonansu, ▪ wprowadzenie nowych zasad notacji rytmicznej; wcześniejsza notacja modalna zostaje zastąpiona przez notacją menzuralną, mającą wielokrotnie bogatsze podziały wartości, ▪ pojawiają się poglądy na temat dzieła muzycznego, widzianego jako źródło przyjemności....
