Cheshire

Cheshire is a village and civil parish in the West of England, in the North West England region of the Mersey and Dee estuary, on the border with Wales. Until 2009, it served as an administrative district as a non-metropolitan county. Cheshire has an area of 2343 km² and the population of the county is 1,027,700. The former administrative center, and the only city with the status of a city, is Chester, located in the west of the county. The largest town in the county is Warrington. Other major cities in Cheshire are Crewe, Ellesmere Port, Runcorn, Widnes and Macclesfield. The northern part of the county, located on the River Mersey, within the confines of Liverpool and Manchester, is characterized by a higher degree of urbanization than the south, which is more rural in nature. In the north-west of Cheshire, it borders Merseyside, north-east of Greater Manchester, east of Derbyshire, south-east of Staffordshire, south-west of Shropshire, and west of Wrexham and Flintshire.
