Chinoiserie

Chinoiserie

Chinoiserie - an eclectic style in art, design and European architecture that is related to Chinese culture. It is characterized by the borrowing of Chinese motives and materials, among others. lakes, porcelain, etc. Chinoiserie appeared in France in the mid-seventeenth century. It quickly gained control of Europe, and in the 18th century it became one of the elements of rococo. The name itself began to be used in the 18th century. This style was inspired by China, which succumbed to Europe after the success of Jesuit missions at the Ming and Qing dynasties. This trend also includes inspirations from other countries in the Far East, primarily in Japan. In recent years, in connection with China's integration with the world's fashion economy, the chinoiserie has come to life. At present, however, mainly concerns furniture and interior design. As in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, today chinoiserie is merely an echo of Far Eastern culture, its stereotypical version. Chinoiserie – eklektyczny styl w sztuce, wzornictwie i architekturze europejskiej nawiązujący do kultury chińskiej. Charakteryzuje się zapożyczaniem chińskich motywów i materiałów, m.in. laki, porcelany itd. Obecnie dotyczy jednak głównie mebli i wystroju wnętrz.
