Kalahari

Kalahari

Kalahari - Basin in Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, Angola, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Approximately 1.8 million km². In the east, dry forests and wet and dry savanna, in the south, semi-arid and desert vegetation. Few seasonal rivers, northern swamps and Ngami Lake. Numerous national parks. Wrongly called the desert, the vegetation covering it is classified as savanna. Most of the precipitation sinks into the ground, so most areas of the water supply are like deserts. The greater part covers the sands, from which, in few places, the hills are built of solid rocks. Kalahari sands are of river origin. During heavy rainfall can change for a short time in the bushy green pasture. During the summer there are precipitation events - the annual rainfall at Kalahari is 76-190 mm. The Kalahari Basin covers an area of approximately 2.5 million km² extending further to Botswana, Namibia and South Africa, and even reaches parts of Angola, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Kalahari – kotlina w Botswanie, Namibii, RPA, Angoli, Zambii oraz Zimbabwe. Powierzchnia ok. 1,8 mln km².
