Meteorological - historical, currently disappearing name, referring to lower geodesy - science dealing with all kinds of land measurements. Usually in geodesy it is a section on measurements where it is not required to take into account the spheres of the Earth. Poland is one of the few countries in which geodetic words are used to describe the area of knowledge and technology related to the measurement of small areas. In most Western European countries the term geodesic is reserved exclusively for learning to measure large areas and the whole of Earth. The tasks reserved for detailed geodesy are referred to as surveying. The term of measurement and related profession of sworn witness as a person of public trust belongs to the Polish tradition and was changed in the years after the Second World War for political reasons.
