Olibanum

Olibanum - resin derived from the genus of incense growing in the semi-deserts and outskirts of the deserts of northeastern Africa and the Indian peninsula. Freshly resinous from the trees, the juice resembles a juice that soon cools to a fragrant, grainy, yellowish-brown mass. It is an olibanum. Contains 60-70% resin, 27-35% gummy resin and 3-8% essential oils. The resin is collected from December to May in such a way that the outer pergamin bark is pulled from the tree trunks and cut into the underside of the bark. The resin flows in the form of white droplets of milk consistency and in the air quickly stagnates. It can be stored for several months in dry caves. Olivan was mainly used for the production of 3 species: Boswellia carteri, Boswellia papyrifera and Boswellia serrata. ↑ 1,0 1,1 Zofia Włodarczyk: Biblical Plants. Lexicon. Cracow: Institute of Botany. W. Szafer PAN, 2011. ISBN 978-83-89648-98-3. ^ Zbigniew Podbielkowski: Dictionary of crop plants. Warsaw: PWRiL, 1989. ISBN 83-09-00256-4 .... Do wytwarzania olibanu wykorzystywano głównie 3 gatunki: Boswellia carteri, Boswellia papyrifera i Boswellia serrata.
