José João Amaral Estrompa
José João Amaral Estrompa, known as Estrompa is one of the most emblematic authors of the Portuguese Banda Desenenhada. Known primarily for the subversive adventures of his anti-hero Tornado, a parody of Torpedo's cop / chunga. To his curriculum the creation of the bizarre, dysfunctional and obscene Darling Family, the Pink cat and the dog Smaile is acceded. Tornado, who spread the chaos and sophisticated philosophy popularucha / tuga chunga with flavor "bogartiano" in the pages of underground publications like Banda, Comic, BD \u0026 amp; Roll, Shock, Boom !!!, Seasons of Glass etc, gave the "jump" to the mainstream ten years after its creation, in the magazine BD Selections. Three years later, Bedeteca of Lisbon also published a title of the collection LX Comics dedicated to the obscure detective. At a professional level, Estrompa has always worked in Advertising and Graphic Arts, having also published his work in mainstream magazines such as Tintim, DN Semanal, Mosquito, Bread with Butter and BD Selections.
