As

Jaquê

Jaquê is a grape variety of the hybrid American origin Vitis x bourquina, which produces strong, dark wines of violet color, generally known as jaquês. The caste is widely used in the production of traditional Macaronesian wines and is commonly used on the island of Madeira, in the more sheltered fajãs of the Azores and in parts of the Canaries and Cape Verde. The caste was introduced in southern Brazil, Peru, Argentina and Chile, where it is used to produce grape juice. Strongly scandalous, being able to climb through the canopy of the trees, the breed is not demanding in phytosanitary matters, little sensitive to the attack by the powdery mildew and resistant to the rise and the wind.
