Joá-de-capote

The Joá-de-capote is a plant of the family Solanaceae, annual, herbaceous, robust, erect, from 40 to 140 cm in height. It has a stalk glabrous and strongly grooved, with leaves also glabrous, from 7 to 14 cm in length and its reproduction is by seeds. They are widely used in folk medicine from all over the world, mainly from South America, such as Peru, Colombia, Suriname and Brazil. Although they are important species in ethnomedicine, whose pharmacological potential is recognized, the absence of pharmacobotanical studies for these species was evidenced.
