We are: Homosexual Affirmation Group
O Somos: Homosexual Affirmation Group, better known as Somos Only, was a LGBT rights group, founded in 1978, considered the first Brazilian group to defend these rights. The group was formed from the publication of the newspaper O Lampião da Esquina, initially calling itself the Homosexuality Action Center for the Rights of Homosexuals. The name was criticized for overstating the political proposal. It was then considered to use the name "Somos", in honor of a publication of the Argentine homosexual movement that circulated between 1971 and 1976. The official name then became "Somos: Homosexual Affirmation Group", avoiding word "gay" because it is too Americanized.
