electronvolts

Electronvolt

The electron pulse is used in nuclear physics and chemistry to express kinetic energy of subatomic particles as well as energy absorbed or released in nuclear or chemical reactions. Because of mass-energy equivalence, the electron pulse can be used to express the mass: 1 eV / c ≈1,783 × 10-36 kg ≈ 1,074 × 10-9 u and ≈931,4 MeV In reactions that produce or absorb photons, between photon energy and wavelength, where λ is the wavelength, ν is the frequency of the radiation, h is Plank's constant and c is the speed of light in vacuum. The hc value expressed in electron-nanometer nanometer is: hc≈1240 eV · nm In other words, a photon of 1 eV energy corresponds to a wavelength of 1240 nm. The visible light corresponds to photons with energy ranging from 1.77 eV to 3.1 eV.
