S-a mai pus în legătură cu sb.svud „miros de arsură” (Cihac, II, 341); cu lat.folium, cu suf. -ac (Pascu, Suf., 190); sau cu bg.svojak „cumnat” (Candrea; cf. Scriban). – Der.sfo(i)gi,vb.refl. (Olt., a se mucezi).
