Pliska (Bulgaria)
Pliska is a city in Bulgaria. Located in the Shumen region, it is part of the community of the Caspian. The population is 1 019 people. Earlier, it was called Aboba, but then archaeologist Fedir Uspensky, director of the Russian Archaeological Institute in Constantinople, found that in its place once was the first capital of the Danube Bulgaria, Pliska, and there began the archaeological excavations. In 1925, the city was returned to its historical name.
