Hegemony (Hegemony or Hegemonism) refers to the ideology of a country that, by virtue of its great political, military and economic advantages, controls the sovereignty of other countries, dominates international affairs or seeks dominance in the world or in individual areas. In the twentieth century, many countries had the intention of competing for hegemony, including Nazi Germany, the Soviet Union and the United States.
