El aprendizaje puede ocurrir como resultado de la habituación o condicionamiento clásico, visto en muchas especies animales, o como resultado de actividades más complejas como el juego, visto sólo en animales relativamente inteligentes. El aprendizaje puede ocurrir conscientemente o sin conciencia.
